Remove Drywall Ceiling
Start near the top of the wall and work down prying the drywall free of its fasteners as you go.
Remove drywall ceiling. Remove the molding first. If you cut at 45 gregres or with the blade vertical you ll cut the tape but you ll also score the ceiling drywall. Cost can add up quickly especially if you re a novice and have never attempted to remove drywall before.
With the area clear you can see the perimeter of the drywall to be removed. This is the method i have been using to remove a drywall ceiling before having to replace it with new drywall. Instructions clear out the attic insulation.
If possible put drywall chunks directly into heavy duty garbage bags or a disposable container. Shut off the power water gas and other utilities to the area you are working on. Batts are easy to lift out and having them out of the way will make the demolition easier.
Use a cordless drill with a sharp phillips tip bit and a racketeer stud ball magnet to locate screws in the drywall and then use the sharp bit to remove the screws. If the damaged ceiling is below an attic chances are the attic has insulation. I would strongly recommend you hire a licensed and insured remodeling or general contractor to remove drywall for you.
Clear the room walls and attic if there is one above the ceiling. After the initial piece is freed the subsequent. Drywall is inexpensive so don t try to save it for reuse.
All the old drywall is. First i go around the perimeter and cut throug. Use drywall adhesive to hold the new ceiling drywall up so you can fasten it with screws.
