Framing Ceiling
Frame your ceiling after all the walls are plumb aligned and secured.

How to frame a ceiling step 1. Butting the 2x4 against a flat surface while assembling can help to keep the bracket set properly. Attach a joist hanger to each end of the 2x4 keeping them flush not protruding past the end of the wood.
Do not use the floor as the flooring may be uneven. Armstrong single raised panel 2 ft. For a 10 foot wall 7 interior studs will be needed plus 2 end studs for a total of nine.
You will determine the size of your ceiling joist. Space each ceiling joist 16 in. Once you have marked your height you can make a line in the walls by using a level or a laser.
When framing with wood studs your construction will either run parallel or perpendicular to the ceiling joists. A partition wall merely divides the interior space. Starting at one end of the new wall shim between the top plate and ceiling and check the wall for plumb with a level.
It is not structural. A 4 foot or 6 foot level is used to mark the ceiling height. Determine the number of studs required to build the wall by dividing the length measurement by 16 inches.
