Drywall Ceiling First
To install ceiling drywall start by applying adhesive to the joists where the first sheet of drywall will go.

That way the wall pieces support the ceiling pieces. Drywall is heavy awkward and hard to get into position. A standard 8 foot high wall accommodates two sheets of drywall installed horizontally.
Make note of unusual framing so you ll know where to place screws after it s covered with drywall. When you attach the ceiling sheets first you can reinforce them with the wall pieces which will serve as a source of stability. Drywall butts should be centered on floor joists.
Professionals always do the lids ceilings first. Install the top row of panels first pushing each panel up as tight as it will go against the ceiling. One more thing this mark should indicate the center of the joist because two drywall pieces get screwed into one joist to create a drywall seam.
