Ceiling Fan Rotation

When you look up at your ceiling fan as it gears up you may notice the clockwise rotation of the blades.

Ceiling fan rotation. The gentle updraft pushes warm air which naturally rises to the ceiling down along the walls and back the floor. To help produce a comfortable breeze or windchill that cools the skin blades should rotate. This seems right since a clock moves right and lots of things that are working correctly are said to be moving clockwise.

During hot summer weather. In the winter ceiling fans should rotate clockwise at a low speed to pull cool air up. Which direction should a ceiling fan rotate.

To help move warm air that is trapped on the ceiling blades should turn forward in a clockwise. A ceiling fan should rotate counterclockwise in the summer so the blades push cooler air down in a column. It is important though to think about the angled direction of the blades with regards to this clockwise rotation.
