Blue Ceiling Fan Wire

The black and blue wires are called hot wires because they hold electrical current.

Blue ceiling fan wire. Connect the green wire to your household ground wire copper bare wire. For ceiling fans without lights follow the same step. The black wire is usually reserved for fan power only and does not extend over to your light kit.

The blue wire is for the ceiling fan light and if you do not have a separate switch wire for the light then the blue attaches with the black wire for the ceiling fan motor. Lastly connect the blue wires together or the blue wire to the black wire for lights. If there is a black and red wire then this usually means there are two separate wall switches one for each function.

After hooking up all the wires tuck them back in the bracket and put the faceplate up. Without connecting the blue wire on your ceiling fan to a power source you will not be able to control your lights. Blue wire or green wire. Find the short green wire or the green ground screw on your ceiling fan hanging. Most ceiling fans come pre wired for a light fixture whether it has a fixture or not.

You can also connect the blue wires or the blue to the black wire. The ceiling fan motor does not have a ground wire. If you have a blue and black wire hanging out from your ceiling you should also have 2 switches on your wall.

Connect the white wires neutral wires from your fan and ceiling together. When completing your 4 wire ceiling fan switch wiring remember to connect the black wire to the unit s black and blue wires. The blue wire is the hot wire for the ceiling fan light fixture.
